The lawyer Dr. Ernst Baburger (1902-1981) was a member of the Legal Department of the Swedish section of World Jewish Congress and also a member of Emigranten-Selbsthilfe, a Swedish Jewish self-help organization devoted to providing relief and cultural activities for refugees. Baburger was involved in both organization's legal aid for Jewish victims of Nazi persecution.

In April 1945 he negotiated with Heinrich Himmler for the release of 7,000 Jewish women from the Ravensbrück concentration camp, and the women arrived in Sweden in April 1945.
